If they just had put in a note for contraception in each of this films, it owuld have helped a lot!even the pope is talking about it now!but then, the hindi films then and even now are of the same opinion like Bush jr. that no sex is the best contraception!

I have forgotten which thread it was where we were discussing Radheyshyam. I know him as a 50s actor and while I was listening to some Geeta Dutt songs I suddenly happened to find him in this clip at the beginning. It is from Lajwanti, a 1958 film.
Thank you! Lovely song, very O P Nayyar. I have seen this film, but it was such a bad spy thriller, that I seem to have mentally blanked out even the songs, which I now realise are actually very nice. :-)
i am deeply pained after reading the article and its true that i have read it in hindi newspaper too which looked blunt to me cause of hindi is my first language. even in humraaz review of dd news stated about attitude over safalta and asafalta. i wish she would have never entered films. quoting shashi kapoor shashi ji said heroine sirf apney khoobsurati par hi nahi apney acting par bhi dhyaan dey.
Thanks, Harish, for the list. Many items were new to me. It is toobad the "ek aanaa" fanfold lyrics booklets have disappeared. Theywere the best resource for getting the words to all the songs ofa film. There are well-produced song-books of Talat and Mukesh songs. Ihave seen the Talat book, produced by associates of Hamraaz. Ithas words to almost all the songs--film, non-film, Hindi, non-Hindi--of Talat. I have read about a similar collection of Mukesh songs, published I believe in Gujarat. The information Harish provided deserves to be made part of theRMIM FAQ. Just like Vijay resurrected the ITRANS Song Book, herethe FAQ is another project waiting for volunteer(s).In another posting, Harish said:>.............. Hindi film music reached its creative peak>during the period 1948 to 1970 (my opinion). Hence it is not a>coincidence that discussions at RMIM are either of that period or of>the last few monthsThat is a cute way of putting it--and very acccurate, too.Why is the latter so? Is it the case that the newer hits haveno staying power? Ashok
Harish : look for songs in 1941-47 era, too. That will be arewarding experience, I assure you. Anilda, Naushad in his 1940sform, Khemchand Prakash, Ghulam Haider, Shyam Sunder, K Dutta andmany other stalwarts were active during those years. Film musicspent (say) 15 years, 1956-70, busily falling from its perch. After 1970, it became almost entirely worthless. There is a considerable falling off in the standard of outputin the second half of 1950s in case of both Lata and Anilda.AB got tired of film line, and suffered a tragedy in early 1960swhen his son died in an air crash. He left Mumbai thereabouts. He was just one of many MDs who made that era. I see hisdeclining involvement as coincidentally symptomatic of, ratherthan the reason behind, the decline in the quality of film music.Shall we say, by way of compromise, that the golden erawas from 1943 to 1957 ? Those 15 years were the top 15.- nani

I confess I am not very familiar with the music of Anilda, KhemchandPrakash, Ghulam Haider, Shyam Sunder, K Dutta, etc and I would love toinvest my time to listen to songs of these MDs. In fact I have onlyheard (pre-1948) several songs of Anmol Ghadi, and 1-2 songs of Rattan,Dard and Shahjahan. Personally I prefer Naushad of the 50s and 60s.Even his Sunghursh (1968) has some excellent songs, perhaps his lastgood (musically) film.Nani, can you suggest some films (from 41 to 47) of which I can buycassettes?
> -rawatThanks Rawat.A stupid mistake on my part. It is not Yaadgare Lata, but Lata ke hitGeet. I had purchased these books in late 1994 for Rs. 20 each.I would like to add some more info on Music Masti.Music Masti also includes several non-filmi songs such as Gujaratigarba songs (around 50), 70 odd ghazals (Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali,Jagjit and Chitra Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Talat Aziz, Peenaz Masani, etc)and a handful of hit qawwalis like Chadta Suraj, Hume to loot liya andTum to tehre pardesi. Music Masti can be contacted throughmusic...@hotmail.com

There is also one from 1986-1990 and another from 1990-1994. I haven'tbeen able to get my hands on the 1934-1960 volume. Can someone tell mewhere this can be found?I have to say that the print and paper quality is quite bad. Some ofthe books have the pages out of sequence. The song lyrics are notalways accurate, though the mistakes are simple and can easily bespotted. The good thing is that for each song complete p-stats is almost alwaysprovided. I just got these books. There is also one on filmi qawallisand filmi ghazals.

"Humraaz" is a 1967 hindi film which has Sunil Dutt, Vimmi, Raaj Kumar, Madan Puri, Mumtaz, Balraj Sahni, Jeevan, Mubarak, Iftekhar, Achla Sachdev, Manmohan Krishan, Urmila Bhatt, Anwar and Sarika in lead roles. We have one song lyrics and one video song of Humraaz. Ravi has composed its music. Mahendra Kapoor has sung these songs while Sahir Ludhianvi has penned its lyrics.
Yes! Definitely watch the original film if you get a chance (not the trashy Saif Ali Khan remake)! The plot is surprisingly well-crafted and the film has a handful of great songs in addition to this one that are so worth the wait! 2ff7e9595c
